United Way in Action…

Here are just a few examples of United Way’s impact on our community:
  • 3,300 individuals received life-sustaining emergency services through Piedmont Rescue Squad.
  • 600 residents with disabilities received training at the Opportunity Center to improve their employment opportunities.
  • 250 elderly and/or disabled residents of Calhoun County received a life-sustaining meal each day through Meals on Wheels programs.
  • 11,020 nutritious meals were provided by the Woodland Senior Center to homebound and congregate senior citizens as well as health programs, a walking track, and exercise classes.
  • 22 local residents in need of dialysis were assisted three times weekly to get life-sustaining dialysis through the programs of the National Kidney Foundation.
  • 366 children who were victims of sexual and/or physical abuse were assisted with counseling and advocacy through the services of Calhoun/Cleburne Children’s Center.
  • 140 victims of domestic violence were provided a safe place to go through the 2nd Chance Women’s Shelter.
  • Daybreak Crisis Recovery Center provided services to 97 sexual assault victims ensuring they received proper treatment and medical care, and over 1,100 individuals (victims and family members) received counseling to help with the recovery process and prosecution.
  • 19 abused and neglected children who had been removed from their home found a safe, nurturing environment in the Parris Home of Children’s Services.
