The Community Task Force on Homelessness is asking for your cooperation in our efforts to conduct a cost study of homelessness in Calhoun County. The data gathered through these questionnaires will not be displayed by the municipality, but rather visualized as a community-wide comprehensive study. Determining, to the best of our ability, the financial impact homelessness has on our local community will help us realize the need for a more coordinated response, and help support the case for funding and sustaining any new programs and services established to directly address this issue. By homelessness, we refer, in accordance with HUD, to individuals or families who reside in places not meant for human habitation, or in an emergency, transitional or supportive housing when they came from the streets, or who have been evicted from private dwellings, discharged from an institution, or are fleeing domestic violence without the resources or networks needed to obtain housing. Please contact Dr. Allison Newton (anewton@jsu.edu) or Shannon Jenkins (sjenkins@uweca.org) with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
