United Way Initiatives

On September 11th, United Way of East Central Alabama will host the Randolph County Kickoff and Day of Action, a community service event focused on supporting Bridging the Gap Community Services as they prepare their new community garden for public use. Volunteers will come together to help bring this inspiring project to life by assisting with construction of raised garden beds, filling beds with soil, and completing various landscaping tasks to get the space ready for planting and community engagement.
Bridging the Gap Community Services (BTG) is a community-focused nonprofit dedicated to serving rural Randolph County, Alabama, by promoting education, health, and unity. The creation of a community garden will directly address these challenges by:
- Providing residents with access to fresh, affordable fruits and vegetables.
- Promoting physical activity through gardening.
- Offering educational opportunities to learn about healthy eating and sustainable practices.
- Serving as a hub for social connection and mental health improvement.
